JFC Restaurant and Bar

Louise and Chester Rendell are long time residents of Paihia and originally purchased the property in 1983 when it was a Motel and Tea House. It took about six weeks for them to work out that there was no money in “scones, jam and cream”, and it wasn’t long before the ‘Courtyard Restaurant’ morphed out of the original Tea House. Later this became ‘Bistro 40’ and then ‘Only Seafood’ was established above Bistro 40 in 1991.
Fast forward to 2019, Chester and Louise decided to re-open the restaurant, under the JFC brand, with the simple aim of providing just good, honest, fresh fish & chips, but as the business has evolved with a much larger range of seafood dishes.
JFC is a fully licensed, indoor/outdoor restaurant offering the freshest of fish and the best chips you will ever find. Enjoy your fish battered, crumbed or pan fried. Complemented with delights like mussel fritters, anchovies on toast, a wonderful salmon and dill terrine, kokoda (marinated raw fish in coconut cream), prawn cocktail and the best seafood chowder you’ll ever taste – not to mention a fine mussel chowder. We have a stunning fish burger, garlic grilled butterfly prawns, tacos, oysters, smoked fish pie, salmon fillet, italiano prawns – a new pasta dish – Our seafood platter is winning high praise and well worth considering. We have gluten free options and our vegan burger is to die for!
