The two embroidered samplers made by Jane Holloway King and her sister Elizabeth Marsden King acknowledge the lives and activities of women in the early Bay of Islands Mission stations. Join Vivien Caughley as she reveals some of the long-silent voices of women at this pivotal moment in New Zealand history, and the far-reaching messages they convey in cloth.
This is the second of Vivien’s talks in the lead-up to the exhibition X-Marks: Conversations in Cloth opening at Te Kōngahu Museum of Waitangi in September.
