A fabulous new festival will be held in Waitangi! There will be a variety of stalls there – showcasing food, wine and craft beer from all over Northland. Look for the wow factors in this celebration of Tastes of the North festival with local hero dishes, indigenous food and all that Northland has to offer from its seabed, rivers, farms and fields.
Treats from Duke of Marlborough Oyster Bar including Hapuka Sashimi and Scallops form the Bay, Venison and Horopito One Lane Bridge Pie, KawaKawa Rubbed Chicken served in a Kerikeri Beetroot Bun. Other stalls bringing local produce and other delights such as Scalli’zio scallops with a fresh market salad Sweet Corn Fritters with smoke Salmon and a Dill & Caper creme fraiche.
Northland has plenty of award winning wines and boutique vineyards to enjoy. Craft beers are going to be plentiful, we are excited to have craft beer from all over Northland such as McLeod’s Brewery which is an award-winning, small-batch brewery with an eye on modern takes to traditional styles. Jason Bathgate, their head brewer, has worked for two champion New Zealand breweries and was instrumental in our recent seven-medal win at the 2016 Brewers’ Guild of New Zealand Awards.
All day entertainment from top local performers and bands on the stage in the marquee and a DJ inside. Very privileged to have a special performance from Te Pitowhenua, the Waitangi Treaty grounds Cultural Group. Top this all off with gratifying mugs of frothy beer, award-winning wines and some other delightful non-alcoholic Northland tipples – it will be a superb day out.
The location is absolute waterfront, nestled on the water’s edge where the Waitangi River flows out to the Bay of Islands. Nothing is left to chance at this time of the year so the festival will be indoors with a marquee outside. The waterside location is The Waitaha Events Centre at the Copthorne Hotel & Resort in Waitangi promising to deliver an event for all. Tickets will be limited for the inaugural event which promises deliver the Tastes of the North Food, Wine and Craft Beer which Northland has to offer so get in quick.
The Fullers GreatSights will be offering a ferry service from Paihia – Russell – Waitangi
