Join a local Māori guide on an unforgettable journey to the Hokianga, a landscape rich with legends. Known as ‘The Cradle of a Nation,’ the Hokianga was established by New Zealand’s first discoverer, Kupe over 1000 years ago. Your local Maori guide will captivate with legends of the land as you take a gentle walk through the ancient Waipoua Forest, which is home to the largest remaining stand of Kauri trees in New Zealand. Here, you’ll get up close to Tane Mahuta (The Lord of the Forest) and Te Matua Ngahere (The Father of the Forest) the two largest and oldest Kauri trees in the world.
Lunch will be served on the edge of the stunning Hokianga Harbour at the Copthorne Hotel & Resort Hokianga (included in tour cost). You can go for a Swim in the hotel pool or harbour, or a take a gentle stroll along the beach or to South Head (tide dependant).
