Hunt through the Treaty Grounds for colourful plastic eggs. Once you’ve found as many as you can, bring them back to the table on the boardwalk outside the Visitor Centre to trade them in for chocolate. Hunt times are 10.30am, 12.00pm and 2.00pm
Bring the kids along for some creative activities with our Education team!
Morning session: 9.30am – 11.30am / Afternoon session: 2pm – 4pm
Ask our staff on the day where the activities will be taking place. All children must be accompanied by an adult
The Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival features good music and friendship in the stunning setting of the Bay of Islands of New Zealand - one of the top tourist spots of the country. Each year the festival features more than 50 acts from New Zealand and Australia performing at multiple venues. Street music and line dancing are also popular features.
Photographer Michael Bradley has spent over two years photographing New Zealanders with tā moko using both modern digital, and wet plate collodion techniques. Puaki features well known New Zealanders in an exhibition about expression and the reclamation of tā moko.
We are very excited about the Paihia Half Marathon and Bay of Islands Festival for 2018. The Team at MaD Running have been hard at work to bring you the biggest and best event using the whole Queens Birthday weekend and we have something for everyone.

To coincide with the Puaki exhibition, July’s school holiday programme is all about the language of marks. Each day take part in a different activity and have fun learning about using language and images for communication.
The two embroidered samplers made by Jane Holloway King and her sister Elizabeth Marsden King acknowledge the lives and activities of women in the early Bay of Islands Mission stations. Join Vivien Caughley as she reveals some of the long-silent voices of women at this pivotal moment in New Zealand history.

Every year jazz and blues musicians gather from all over New Zealand and overseas for the annual Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival.
The venues in Paihia and Russell host over 150 hours of quality jazz and blues during the three-day event. There are more than 45 acts featured. Street performances each morning add to the atmosphere of the festival. Find out more about our great line up of performers here and our venues here.

This years headline act is iconic Kiwi Band Flying My Pretties who will be led by frontman Barnaby Weir, who will be bringing a 12-person strong cast to Paihia for this performance. The full cast will be confirmed in the coming weeks." Leading up to Fly My Pretties we have all day entertainment with Troy Kingi, Automatic 80’s and JPG!
