Queens Birthday Weekend
We are very excited about the Paihia Half Marathon and Bay of Islands Festival for 2018. The Team at MaD Running have been hard at work to bring you the biggest and best event using the whole Queens Birthday weekend and we have something for everyone.

Friday 1 June – just chill
Come alone and enjoy some with some drinks and music at the Alongside Bar. Relax after your arrival and enjoy putting your feet up with the stunning views over the Bay of Islands
Saturday 2 June – Explore Russell
We have a exciting day planned, pop over to Russell and take part in the Russell Fun Run. 5km starting at the Russell School, then set off running along the waterfront before heading over to one of Russell Secret beauty locations at Long Beach, before heading back to the School.
You then have some time to decide to explore Russell some more and enjoy lunch here, or you can head out on the Explore Discover the Bay trip* before you head back to Paihia and them up to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds for 4pm for the event Powhiri.
Now don’t forget at some stage to pick up your race pack from the Explore office before Sunday’s main event

Russell 5km Fun Run: $20
Sunday 3 June – half marathon day
The big day and time to put all the training to the test. We have 4 events this year with the 1km Kids Dash as well as the Half Marathon, 12km and 5km. The changes this year are that all the event will run through the Treaty Grounds thanks to the Waitangi Trust. To really make this course one of New Zealand’s most scenic and stunning courses in New Zealand.

Prize giving at 4pm at the Alongside Bar – come along and enjoy some live music, food and drink while in the company of some awesome likeminded runners and walkers. Relive those awesome views and laugh about the little hill or two. Then the team from Mad Running will take over for the spot prize draw and one person will win our amazing prize thanks to the team at Explore
*trip not included in the price of event entry
