Northland Chess Championship 2023

For the Junior Division each round will be 30 min (15 min play time for each player). For Youth and Seniors each round will be 50 min (25 min play time for each player).

Players will score points after each round with 1.0 point for a win, 0.5 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. We will use a tie-break system to determine the winners. Trophies and titles can only be won by residents of Northland, but there will be cash prizes to be won for all players.

The tournament will be run by professional chess arbiters from Auckland. For Juniors (having a shorter play time) we expect prize giving around 3:30pm in the afternoon while Youth and Seniors will finish around 5pm followed by their prize giving.

Please note we have a limit of 150 registered players, so we encourage players to register early rather than late.
