The New Years Eve Fireworks in the Bay is a fantastic display of pyrotechnics!
Free for the community and many thousands of visitors into the Bay of Islands, there is busking, a free sausage sizzle and activities for children throughout the evening leading up to the midnight display, including the “Biggest Littlest Circus”.
The fireworks are at midnight a the Fireworks are set off from a barge in water in the middle of the Bay so they are able to be viewed by all residents in Opua, Paihia, Russell, Waitangi and Haruru. Pick a spot on the waterfront and enjoy the display!
The Fireworks display and the circus is organised by Business Paihia Inc and is free to all who want to come! There are awesome bars and restaurants waterfront that you can view the display at midnight – or bring a picnic and a blanket and pick a spot waterfront to watch them. Please remember Paihia has a liquor ban in public areas 24/7 all year round.
The fireworks and circus mark the start of the Paihia Summer Events schedule which also includes 9 days of fun free events for families to enjoy.
